A week at home

We now have a week at home to work on the garden.  We will be making the odd trip into town but mostly it will be a mix of gardening, DIY and enjoying the delights of the village.

Village Pub Rebuild

The new owners of our village pub are taking it from strength to strength. One of the issues is that the bar area is rather small, and with us having Timmy the Greyhound the bar is the only area we can go into if we want our hound with us.  So this month they have started on a extension.

Street Theatre

Its now the time of year where there is always something going on in Lincoln, this time on my Lunch time walk it was some street theatre.

If you have never been, you really must visit Lincoln, the Cathedral alone is one of the most impressive buildings in the whole world.

Gone to the Dogs

Back at work on Thursday, well at least for half of the day.  Meetings in the morning, quick walk into town to take a few snapshots and add to my dog days project, then back to home to finish up some work in peace.

Apple World Wide Developers Conference

Apple started their World Wide Developers Conference today and there was some exciting announcements for Mac’s and iOS.  The MacBook Pro got some nice updates as did the iMacs.  Hopefully we will see a new MacPro next year.

I was hoping to see the little MacBook updated.  Its been getting more powerful for light work since the last update, but it only has the one USB3.1 port, it really needs two Thunderbolt 3 ports to make it more useful for those wanting a small laptop to do occasional real work.

Summer Cold

I managed to drag myself to work today but I am am certainly coming down with a summer cold.  I was planning on doing some work in the studio this week but it looks like I’ll have to cancel.

Leica SL v3.0 Firmware

Leica have released v3.0 firmware for the Leica SL.  There are quite a list of improvements, and I have listed the key ones below, but one of the more interesting ones I have not listed is that the electronic shutter is now available at all of the main shutter speeds.

  • An option for saving DNG and JPEG files separately on different memory cards (e.g. DNG to SD1 and JPEG to SD2).
  • A new video mode: Ultra HD at a frame rate of 24 frames per second (3840×2160 @ 24 fps).
  • Optimized “Flash” white balance pre-set, for use with studio flash systems.
  • Continuous exposure preview in LiveView when using manual exposure mode.
  • The last magnification location of the playback zoom function is now saved to enable easier and faster checking of critical focus.
  • Aperture and shutter speed settings can now be assigned to either the front or the rear dials.
  • In AF Tracking mode, the AF point can now be assigned either to a fixed starting position or will vary depending on the last used AF point location.
  • Option for 6x magnification with one press of the AE/AF button while in Manual Focus mode.
  • Direct on-the-fly control of audio recording levels is now possible by toggling the joystick left or right on the live histogram screen.

New Nikon Lens announced

Three new Nikkor lens have been announced, the surprise for me was the DX cropped format 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6.  As well as that there was a full frame fisheye zoom and it was nice to see a new 28mm wide angle but with the electronic shutter.
