Cakes

Lincoln Streets-4

Up hill Lincoln has some fantastic shops and is quite a tourist area with the castle and cathedral being there.  This means lots of cake and teashops.

If your shy at street photography, then this is an easy start, just snap pictures of people looking in shop windows.

Holiday Bookings

Timmy on the Beach

We have some time off coming up so this past weekend we have been searching for places to stay that take dogs.  The place we really wanted to go was fully booked but we still managed to find somewhere and only a £10 surcharge to cover room cleaning to take Timmy the Greyhound.

I now need to decide what camera equipment to take.  Like are last trip out to Southwold, I would like to shoot some film, so its just a matter of choosing the format, small (35mm), medium or large 5 x 4 inches.

Library

Library

This is part of a project I am working on featuring offices and libraries.  Its a little stereotyped, i.e. you put a pair of glasses on a woman to make them look intelligent but this more cheesy glamour is all about that kind of thing.

Lunch Time Street Walk

Lincoln Streets - Hughstreet Busking

Apart from some studio project work which i’ll post a picture from tomorrow, I have been taking snapshots in and around the high street of Lincoln.  None of it fine art, but street photography is something you need to practice.

Photoshop CC 2015.5 – Face Aware Liquify

Photoshop LiquifyAdobe released Photoshop CC2015.5 recently and as I had a few portraits to edit I gave it good trial.

The first thing that threw me for a while was the selection tool, this has changed quite a bit.

The second which was very cool is the new content aware face aware Liquify filter.  On most images it will detect the face and enable you to tweak the eyes, nose and lips with ease.

Harvesting the Garlic

garden-3

The rain held of this Sunday so we finally got into the garden.  We had the grass to cut, an old thorn bush to dig up and the garlic to harvest.

With all this fresh garlic on hand I may make a nice cassoulet.

Battle of the Somme

The Wave
The Wave

To commemorate the war dead here in the UK we have the symbol of the poppy, a flower common on the killing fields of France.

Last year there was a wonderful art installation of hand made pottery poppies at the Tower of London.  This year the installation has been split up and part of it is now setup in Lincoln Castle and called ‘The Wave’.

Today to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the battle of the Somme we had a ceremony to remember the war dead on all sides here in the Castle and at the Cathedral.
