I was intending on getting a lot of household chores done this weekend and also get out to to the lovely Hartsholme Park to take a few shots but in the end we had a weekend doing nothing. Every year I fully intend to get out to the park with my digital SLR and long lens and document the wildlife over the course of a year, getting out there at least once a month and I keep failing. Maybe next year.
Leica M10 Firmware 1.9.4.0
Its only been a few weeks since the last firmware update, which I have only got round to installing; and now we have another update. This just fixes a minor underexpose issue that can sometimes occurs that was introduced in the last previous update.
The Leica TL2 is released
Its been rumoured a while but yesterday Leica announced the Leica T’s replacement, the TL2. The Leica T was a new step and direction for Leica. Some said it was the camera that Apple would make. Machined from a piece of aluminium with a massive touch screen on the back to customise as you need.
The updated model features a more rounded hand friendly design with the sharp edges removed and all of the features that people loved in the first model. For me what lets it down is the lack of viewfinder.
Lincoln Busking Weekend
This weekend in Lincoln we have the Buskers Weekend, so lots of street entertainment and plenty of opportunities for photography.

New Leica M10 Firmware 1.7.4.0
A new version of firmware has been released for the Leica M10. I have not installed it yet just downloaded it and the pdf to see what it does. It seems to mainly increase compatibility with more and fast, larger cards.
Snapshots
Compact Camera or Phone?
Having my Leica as my general camera, I do sometimes wish for an autofocus compact for quick snapshots, but do we need then now with todays smartphones?
A small portable high quality camera is always necessary and this is fulfilled by my Leica but with it not being autofocus it is not always the best option for quick snapshots.
Nik Software and Photoshop plug-ins
Obsillescence is always an issue with computing and now in digital photography. I used to Nik software for a while, the black and white module that plugged into Lightroom was very affective. Now that Nik has been bought by Google we get no more updates and as Adobe continue to update their products the old plug-ins get broken.
I suppose that is life now, and why I am trying to do most of my editing now with just Lightroom and Photoshop and no other third party software.
More rumours of new Leica TL and a price cut
Lots of rumours of a new model the 5370 from Leica are now appearing. The Leica T was refreshed to the TL last year, but this was more software then an actual upgrade. Lots of government websites show a new Leica model using the code 5370 has now been registered so it should only be another couple months.
Lincoln University – Art and Lens based media
The old Ruddock’s building had an exhibition this month. Lincoln University has a large film, TV and lens based media department and some of the students work went on show.
