The need for more hardware

As a photographer we always want the latest toys; sorry latest necessary tools.

As a photographer I love my Leica M10, and I would love an Hasselblad X1D and Nikon D850.

On the computer side I have the latest MacPro, but my MacBookPro is now ten years old and I feel that my desire for a new laptop is justified.

Leica M8 sample – Boudoir

Now even an old Leica M8 can produce impressive results like that above, but having a modern laptop is extremely useful.

I was disappointed that Apple’sWWDC yesterday did not announce any new hardware but I will be looking out for a new laptop.

After ten years I think deserve one.

Apple WWDC (World Wide Developers Conference)

This Monday was the start of the Apples’s WWDC.  I always try where possible to listen to the CEO’s opening speech.   Sometimes we have new hardware but mainly new software.

As someone who is trying to be more private on the web, limiting their use of applications like Facebook to only a few times a month and stopping internet access after 9 pm at night, there was much to interest me.

I am a self confessed Twitter addict and in Apple’s iOS 12 it will be interesting if I can use the social media limiting side to control my obsession.  As we try to create the right balance of intake of social media IM and Skype interaction with work, and downtime with friends and family tools like this may help.

A Vintage Affair

Every year the Doddington Hall Estate has a vintage market.  This year entitled ‘a Village Affair’.

We took the opportunity to dress up, Caroline in a vintage dress she had made herself, while I wore some English Brogues and trousers, Irish shirt and tweed jacket all topped off with a white Panama hat.

The market was not as big as some years, the uncertainty of the economy with the UK leaving the European Union is causing people to be careful what they spend.

Caroline purchased a small sewing kit, but I did not find anything myself.

Some of the market traders had dressed up and a few visitors.  There was also the odd photographer taking snaps.

After having a good look round we treated ourselves to ice-cream and headed home, a very enjoyable Sunday morning.

May update

May was a light month for photography, I was torn between the top shot and the one I actually published for photograph of the month.

This month I have a busy photography month, with a few corporate photographs and some studio sessions.

Spring Canal Walk

This weekend in the UK was a bank holiday, and unusually the weather was hot, with a clear blue sky.

I took Timmy the Greyhound for a long walk along the Fossdyke Canal.  With it being so hot, Timmy had his cool collar on and we finished the day with an ice-cream.

New Leica SL Firmware v3.2

For those lucky enough to have a Leica SL, I see that Leica have released new firmware.  As I have commented before, its something that Leica and Fuji are very good at.  Even there old models seem to get regular improvements.
